Bye bye La La Land

We are on the shuttle bus, the big blue shuttle bus, what's fun to do if you're not in a rush, and heading back to Marion's Airport in Orange County.

LA has been fun and we got to meet some nice people from Leigh's forum.

I do feel slightly soured though as we didn't get to see the fireworks at Disney last night as they cancelled. The reason they gave was high winds at high altitudes. Now there was a slight wind, and some areas of LA had freak gusts. But there were none reported, recorded or expected in Anaheim area. So my gut feeling is that they are wusses. Penny pinching wusses. The staff in the shops couldn't believe they had cancelled either.

Aside from that we had a great time at Disney.

As for my thoughts on Los Angeles as a whole they are still percolating and will most likely be posted when brewed.

D-D-D-Disney

Saturday morning about ten thirty and I am stood in a line of people for the finding memo ride in LA Disney.

The how and why of visiting a popular and expensive theme park on a weekend are interesting.

I could be on the beach. I could be trolling around a mall people watching. I could be sawing gouges into my flesh with a hacksaw. But instead I am in a line observing the semi-politeness of people bored by queueing.

So as to how I for here. Simple. I walked from my hotel which is about twenty minutes away on the other side if the I5. My wife and I are in LA for a few days.

For the why that is more fun. Leigh is a huge, I mean giant Disney fan. She needs, and I do mean need, to see all the Disneys in the world. Since we were going to be in Vegas for a wedding I decided to hop to LA and do that.

Why are we here on a Saturday? The worst day to be at any theme park? Well Leigh wants to meet some friends from her forums in Downtown for lunch. So we got a two day pass. Joys :/

Ooooh It’s all sticky!

It is official. And this proclimation makes it so , America is all sticky.

It really is. I kid you not.

I have come to the point I always arrive at when on any extended trip to the United States. Now don't read this wrong I love it here and I like a lot of the people. But, America you use too much sugar. This is especially true in relation to the fact that you use way too much corn syrup.

It is making you all sticky. Everything is sticky.

You get a non dairy creamer and the second ingredient is corn syrup. Right after the hydroginated soya oil (yep you made the oil even more unhealthy. Well done) and just before the salt or sodium you have to use because the corn syrup is too damned sweet.

Oh, and did I mention it is also all sticky.

I am craving sour and bitter. I want bread that has no syrup in it. I want bacon that isn't sweet and sausages that don't stick to my fork from the glaze.

I tried to have a fruit bowl. They had soaked the strawberries in clear syrup. Sigh.

Santa Ana Smog

It is ten thirty five in the morning pacific standard time and we are driving down the Santa Ana Highway on our way to Orange County after landing at John Wayne Airport (which is a cool name for an airport. The only thing better would he the Luke Skywalker – can you imagine taking off from the Skywalker Airport? Paging Mr Keatong to the Chewbacca lounge).
Flying into LA the first thing you notice in the early morning light is the smog. It looks like a thin dark cloud covering the entire district. Once you land it isn't so visible as the sun burns straight through it. But on approach you see it. Apparently it is visible from the hills around Los Angeles as well. Have to find out 🙂

Bellini’s at the Bellagio

We are sat in Trader Vic's, which is on the strip (Las Vegas Boulevard) in Las Vegas and we are drinking cocktails before dinner. Leigh is currently having a trader Vic's Stinky and I am waiting for my Zombie.
So Leigh says that they do Bellinis at the Belagio which we last had at the very famous Harry's Bar in Venice where the drink is supposed to have originated.
Now all I can do is think about Venice and the wonderful artwork and how the rather clean and fresh Venitian here doesn't even compare to it.
Anyway Leogh thought that Bellinis at the Bellagio would make a great blog title and I Agreed. So now I am beating her to the post (as one would have it).
Of course the greatest crime here, and one which the Wicked Witch of Vegas just informed Leigh I have committed is texting this to my blog instead of looking at my wife. She is correct of course. Pity she was so rude with it.
